Mikililand Primary School Update

UPDATE:
We have some fantastic updates to share about our ongoing project at Mickey Leyland Primary School in Ethiopia. This school, with a vibrant student population of 1,226, has been facing challenges due to insufficient water and sanitation facilities. But thanks to your generous support, we are making strides towards providing clean water and a healthier environment for these amazing kids.

Initial Assessment:

  • The Splash team visited the school, conducting a detailed technical walkthrough to assess the current WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) system. They also met with the school leadership and signed an agreement to kick off the project.

Construction Updates:

  • May 24: The wheels are in motion! We received a thrilling update from the team in Ethiopia, showcasing the handover to local contractors and the arrival of materials on-site. It’s all hands on deck!
  • May 30: The team started constructing the new water tank seat at the school. We're one step closer to a reliable water supply!
  • June 3: Exciting news! We got more photos from Mikililand, showing the connection of the water supply piping.
  • June 11: Work on site is progressing, and we're preparing the plaques that will be displayed next to the water points at Mickey Leyland.

Special Announcement: We’re thrilled to announce that we, along with our three kids—Nile (9), Danika (7), and Joey (4)—are heading to Ethiopia during the October half-term! This self-funded trip will allow us to check in on the progress and ensure all your wonderful donations are being put to good use.

We are so grateful for your continued support, and we can't wait to share more updates with you soon. Your contributions are making a real difference in the lives of these children, and together, we're building a brighter future.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being part of the More Than a Dent community!

Cheers,
Magda and Edwin
